Our Programs

At Show Me You Care KC, our programs are rooted in dignity, healing, and radical love for the people of Kansas City. Each initiative is a response to real community needs—offering support, access, and joy to those who are often overlooked.

Voices of Care

Voices of Care provides critical support to unhoused individuals and families facing hardship. Through this program, we offer:

  • Housing advocacy and navigation support

  • Warm meals and hydration (including our Hydrate KC summer outreach)

  • Emergency shelter supplies, blankets, and tents

  • Winter clothing and hygiene kits

  • Connection to resources and long-term support

Outcomes: Over 2,000 meals served annually, 100+ resource referrals, 40+ housing supports provided per year.

Once Upon A Prom

Dressing Dreams. Empowering Teens.

Prom is a milestone moment. For many teens, the cost can be a barrier. This program ensures every youth can celebrate in style:

  • Dresses, tuxedos, and accessories

  • Prom tickets and dinner coverage

  • Hair, makeup, and grooming support

  • Nominated students from across KC

Impact: Over 30 students outfitted with full prom experiences.

Our Programs

Show Me You Ball

Backpacks, Ballin’, and Building Community

This high-energy annual event brings together local celebrities, athletes, and community members for a purpose: school readiness for all students. Funds raised provide:

  • Backpacks and school supplies

  • School uniforms and shoes

  • Haircuts and grooming kits

  • Community celebration and youth empowerment

Impact: 1,700+ students served since launch.Housing advocacy and navigation support

Seasons of Care

Joyful Giving, Year-Round

This seasonal programming brings holiday joy and warmth to families in need through three major events:

Trunk or Treat – Safe, family-friendly Halloween celebration

Oh Give Thanks – Thanksgiving meals and gratitude gathering

Oh Gift Thanks – Holiday gifts, warm coats, blankets, and toys

Impact: Hundreds of families supported across the holidays each year.

Show Me You Matter

Suicide Prevention + LGBTQ+ Healing Spaces

This program was created in memory of our founder's nephew and centers mental health and joy for LGBTQ+ individuals and youth:

  • Healing-centered events and spaces

  • Suicide prevention education

  • Partnerships with mental health and queer organizations

  • Hosted in collaboration with Moulin Noir Arts Collective

Focus: Culturally affirming support for LGBTQ+ communities with an emphasis on joy, belonging, and mental wellness.

Show Me Your heART

Healing Through Art for Our Youth

A creative wellness program using art as a tool for healing, connection, and mental health support. We work with youth to explore expression through:

  • Painting, poetry, and visual storytelling

  • Group healing sessions

  • Community art projects

  • Artistic showcases and installations

Benefit: Promotes mental well-being, creativity, and community pride among youth participants.
